 Morning Meeting/ Closing Circle:

At morning meeting we greet each other with a Hello, or good morning.  We "share" on a topic that the teacher picks for that day.  This week will be sharing the rules that the children remember from last week.  When sharing the children are able to strengthen their verbal skills along with listening skills. We also read the morning message together, while practicing our reading readiness skills.  "Closing circle"is when we come together and discuss the day and how we think we did and one thing we could do better.  We call this stars and wishes. It is great to reflect on the accomplishments of the day and to hear others say it!

We will be focusing on reading readiness skills such as moving from left to right, what words are and the difference between letters and words. Rhyming using picture cards and nursery rhymes.  Hearing beginning sounds in words.  We also "clap out" parts of words.  Please read the books in your child's reading bags every night.  It is important that the children practice pointing and tracking the words as they read.  They should also be blending words that they don't know when they read and write.  We "tape" out the sounds and then "blend" the sounds together.
