Welcome to First Grade 2016-2017!
I hope everyone has had a wonderful summer. I have a fun and exciting school year planned for the students! Last year, our school district began implementing a new ELA program entitled, Journeys. This new program involves our reading and writing core areas. We will continue using the math series entitled Go Math! that is directly aligned with the new standards. As most of you know, there is also a component of our new math series that is accessible from home and details on how we will use this feature will be explained at Back to School night in September.
We currently have 23 students in our class.
I hope to be able to meet with everyone on Wednesday, August 31st, from 1:30-2:30. Please feel free to drop off your school supplies at this time as well.
The first week of school will be spent getting to know each other, learning classroom routines and familiarizing each other with the school. We will follow a 6 day schedule rotation and this information will be provided on the homework sheet weekly. Please remember to send your child to school with socks and sneakers on P.E. days.
I love to hear from you! If you need to contact me, you can send a note in your child's homework folder, call the school at 877-5720 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. I will do my best to contact you back as soon as possible.
Please check out our online photo gallery. It is a great way to stay connected with what we are doing in school. In order for your child to participate, I would need a signed consent form which will be sent home soon from the main office. I hope to be able to include all of our students in our gallery!!! I often share the photo gallery with the students so that they can reflect on our prior learning and fun memories.
I am very excited to begin a new school year and look forward to meeting each of you. Back to School Night will be held in September, date and details to follow. It is a very important night filled with information and I sincerely hope that everyone can make it. If you cannot make it, please let me know and I will try to make arrangements to meet with you at another time.
