LIFE SKILLS: We will work on basic skills and tasks that will help ready your child with taking care of their needs beyond some of the academics. Some of these topics will include, but are not limited to selecting and managing a household, caring for personal needs and hygiene, buying, preparing and consuming food, buying and caring for clothing, and transportation needs. We will also work on being self-aware in developing interpersonal skills, communicating with others, making good decisions, and developing social awareness. We will also target skills necessary for success in employment. We will explore employment possibilities and choices, seeking, securing, and maintaining employment, and exhibiting appropriate employability skills. This will include and support the work study program that you child participates in as well. We will continue targeting some of these skills in academic classes as they are related to them. I plan on several local trips and guests to help us target the skills we will cover this year. As the year progresses, I will keep you informed of what we are working on and let you know of any important events we will participate in.
