Annual Themes

We are striving to provide students with the most diverse and varied experience they can receive, culturally and globally.  To this end, we are on a three-year cycle of themes, so that every student will see all three during his or her tenure at Dover Elementary.  In year one of the cycle, we try to instill a sense of reponsibility regarding health and wellness.  In year two,  we stress a theme of Anti-Bullying and do activities to emphasize this.  The third year is dedicated to a theme of Multi-Culturalism, discovering the world and its many facets.  Our new reading series, One Book One Community, also cycles over a three-year period.  We read Frindle, There's a Boy in the Girl's Bathroom, and have yet to choose a third book.  The entire building reads each book together in small discussion groups and answers questions.
