Choral Music Expectations

In order to excel in choral music, certain requirements must be met.

These include:

On a daily/weekly basis, the student must: (80% of grade)

  1. Be in the chorus room BEFORE the late bell and be ready to rehearse no more than 5 minutes after the bell. (This time should be used for making sure your music folders are in order and preparing for the rehearsal)
  2. Present a positive attitude during the rehearsal – watch, listen, follow, and do not talk in between warm-ups or songs.
  3. Hand in assignments on time. These assignments should be completed to the best ability of the student.
  4. Practice your vocal music at home. Know what you are having trouble with and be prepared for class. If you need extra help, do not hesitate to ask your teacher or another choir member.

On occasion, the student must: (20% of grade)

  1. Attend all concerts and activities at which the choir will function as a group. Performing in a group is a major focus of this class, making attendance at all concerts mandatory. These performances are weighed heavily into the course grade. All exceptions must be cleared by the student with the choir director at least 24 hours in advance of the performance, and a make up will be scheduled for a grade. Excuses should be of “emergency” nature and will be left up to the discretion of the director. All unexcused absences may result in two test grades of zero.
    1. Make ups for missed concerts can vary between a singing exam or short written assignment.

I have read the Teacher Expectations and Course Syllabus and have shared them with my parent/guardian.
