Welcome to the Speech and Language web page!  I work in both Wingdale and Dover Elementary Schools, as well as at Dover Middle and High schools. I have a teaching assistant, Mrs. Kathy Kelly, who works with me in Wingdale.  Together we work with over 100 students each school year.

The Kindergarten Program begins with the screening in the Spring for the following year's class.  At this time we identify students who should have further screening for language or articulation needs.  After these screenings in September we develop groups to work on articulation, language concepts, listening skills, vocabulary and phonological awareness (such as rhyming, listening for initial sounds and identifying syllables).

In Grades 1-5 the program is similar but adds a greater emphasis on listening  comprehension and verbal expression and addresses curriculum-related topics in which students need support.

Additionally, as other speech and language needs emerge throughout the year, (such as fluency concerns) students are evaluated on an individual basis and needs are addressed as needed.

Our goal is to help students be successful in academic and social situations.  We make our groups as much fun as possible to keep the children engaged and eager to participate.
