What is an endowment?

It is a fund whose assets are not spent, but are invested to produce income that provides grants every year for specific initiative that strengthen and enrich students' learning experiences.  The assets of the fund are managed by Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation (BTCF).  The endowment accrues dividends from its investment and these funds are used for making grants.  A local advisory board assists with grant-making activities.

 

Are donations to DEEP tax-deductible

Yes!  DEEP donations are fully tax deductible.

 

What other education enrichment programs are offered in our area?

Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation has established 40 Education Enrichment Funds in the tri-state (Northeast Dutchess and Southern Columbia Counties in NY, Northwest CT and Berkshire County, MA) area.  Other local funds include:

  • Webutuck (School District) Quest for Excellence FundEndowment
  • Millbrook (School) Educational Foundation
  • Sustaining Educational Enrichment and Development (SEED), Pine Plains, NY
