The attendance for the Dover Elementary School is submitted each day by the teachers and sent to the Nurse's office via computer. Our policy for the Dover Elementary school can be found in the handbook that you received at the beginning of the school year and reads as follows: The parent or guardian is asked to call or email the school nurse each day that your child will not be in school and give a reason. The nurse can be reached by phone at 845-877-5731 or by email at Ann.Spaeth@doverschools.org. When you email me I will print it out and it will be used as your written excuse for your child's absence. Please leave a detailed message if I do not answer.
Your child's consistent attendance is crucial to their academic success. We do know that a child cannot attend school when they are ill and we do not expect that they will. We do hope that they will be in school every other day, however, in order to be successful in their school work. This attendance policy also helps us to continue to provide for the safety of the children. By keeping in contact with you each time your child is not in school, we are sure that they are safely at home with you or your sitter. I want to thank you all for helping us make this work. Please keep in mind that I do have an answering machine which enables you to call at any time, day or night, and leave a message.
