  • Use of variety of skills to demonstrate the major ideas, themes and developments of ancient civilizations, including Mesoamerica and the early Native American tribes.  Related concepts and themes revolve around four areas of social studies and are aligned with NY State and the Common Core Learning Standards.



  • Improve phonemic awareness skills to improve decoding, spelling, writing, and comprehension
  • Use a variety of word attack strategies to improve spelling and decoding
  • To become comfortable with various techniques to pratice phonemic awareness skills  i.e. writing, speaking, reading, computer skills (Lexia)
  • To increase comprehension of written material
  • Use various strategies to become active readers
