      DOVER PE Philosophy

 Physical Education involves an understanding of the art and science of human movement and development. The Dover Middle School curriculum, focuses on physical activities, skills, knowledge, and social competencies that prepare students to function appropriately in the community and society. A variety of units and activities help foster physical, mental, and emotional development during this transitional period from child to adult. A relaxed, comfortable, and safe environment is provided while maintaining optimal expectations, standards, and requirements.

 Our Physical Education classes 

 are structured to provide for development of confidence, self-discovery, cooperation, and respect for self and others.Positive attitudes toward healthy living and personal fitness area continually nurtured at all levels. Education of fitness components and application of age-appropriate training principles is paramount, as childhood obesity and related health impairments have reached epidemic proportions.
