Class News For The Week of December 11 - 15

Hello Parents.

Please make sure that your child practices their letter ring, the words in the word notebook and reads the books in their reading bag.  Please do not place your child's library book in their reading bag. Please make sure that your child's letter ring , notebook , and books are in your child's bag.

This week in our Journey's Reading Series our essential question is "What can we create with shapes ?".  We will be  blending  sounds into words. We will also be doing segmenting onset and rime where for examp le , I will sayI'm going to say a word.  You say the beginning sound and then the rest of the word.  Only this time , I give the word and the children have to break it up.

This week in Fundations we are learning our lines ( skyline, plane line, grass line and the worm line).  We are learning how to sit properly when we write and how to hold a pencil correctly.  We are using dry erase markers and erasers and our dry erase writing tablets.  We will be reviewing the letters (t,b,f,m,n,i,u,c,o,a,g',d, s,e,r,j,l,h,k,) The letters , "v" and "w" are being introduced this week. Please review these letters and sounds with the ring inside your child's reading bag.  In your child's notebook is the trick word(I, like,am, the, and, a, see,we, to) which we are reviewing, Please practice these words by counting the number of letters, clapping the syllables, skywriting and if you wish for your child to write the word in their word notebook, the children may write them two times each.
