Absentee Ballots:

To request an absentee ballot please complete the following application and return the signed application to the District Clerk. Application for Absentee Ballot.

The absentee ballot application must be received by the District Clerk by May 9, 2023 if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter.   The absentee ballot  must be received no later than 5:00pm on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. 

ELECTION OF BOARD OF EDUCATION MEMBERS:

There are three (3) vacancies open for the election of school board members.

  • Two (2) to a full term of five (5) years to begin on July 1, 2023 and to expire on June 30, 2028.

  • One (1) to fill a three-year and six-week vacated term effective May 17, 2023 and expiring on June 30, 2026.

The two candidates who receive the two highest vote counts will fill the five-year terms. The candidate with the third highest vote count will fill the three-year vacated term.

Erin McCarthy

Erin McCarthy is a long-time resident of Dover and the mother of three young children in the Dover School District. Since her children have been in school, she has worked with school members and the PTSA on several projects, including the proposal and creation of an obstacle course spanning the playground pavement at Wingdale Elementary School, as well as many other initiatives and events to help support the schools.  

Erin has a Masters in Healthcare Administration and has worked in healthcare for over twenty years as an Occupational Therapist and Certified Hand Therapist.  The last 15 years, she has served in a Supervisory role, while gaining advanced certifications in Patient Experience Leadership and Lean Six Sigma Management.  Her experience and training have given her the opportunity to manage several process improvement initiatives throughout her career.  Erin is interested in serving on the Board of Education to assist in identifying opportunities for continued improvement within the schools to support each student along their academic journey.

Natasha Merritt

Natasha Merritt is an experienced educator with a passion for improving her community. She grew up in the Hudson Valley and has been a resident of Dover since 2018, where she has worked tirelessly to support Girl Scout programming in the Harlem Valley. In addition, she has worked with members of the school district and community on the Pedestrian Task Force Committee to examine roads and sidewalks, with the goal of increasing accessibility for walkers and bikers.

With nearly two decades of experience in education, including over a decade as a teacher in Dutchess, Delaware, and Westchester Counties, Natasha has a unique perspective that can aid in fostering partnerships with all stakeholders and meeting the needs of students and the community. As a candidate for the DUFSD school board, Natasha hopes to work collaboratively with board members towards achieving the goals of the DUFSD Board of Education and ensuring that all students have equitable access to education and opportunities to support them upon graduation, regardless of their post-secondary goals.

Philip Calabro

Philip Calabro moved into the school district in 2001. He graduated with a two year Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering from Westchester Community College and finished his education at the New York Institute of Technology where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Technology. Philip and his wife are proud parents of two Dover Union Free School District students. He currently holds a position as the Design Coordinator for the Bureau of Engineering in the City of White Plains. Philip now is running for a board of education position to ensure that the students, parents and taxpayers have a voice in regards to their education. He has participated in the local community as a coach for multiple softball little league teams.  He strives to ensure all students achieve a good education.  Philip enjoys seeing all children smile and succeed in life to the best of their abilities.
