Welcome to the Dover Union Free School District. Please use the information below to answer any questions you might have regarding the registration process or to download and print any necessary documents. PLEASE NOTE:
All registrations are by appointment only.
ALL paperwork must be completed and ALL required documents must be with you at your appointment.
The enrollment process is not immediate and may take up several days to process. Please be aware that your child may not start school the day immediately following enrolling in the district.
REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
The following documents are required to register a student into the Dover Union Free School District:
1. Proof of Residency
All new students entering the Dover Union Free School District must provide the proper documentation to establish residency. The documents provided must always state the student's physical address. A post office box may not be used as an acceptable address for the purpose of determining residency. Please see Residency Requirements to determine what documents you will need to register your child.
2. Proof of Age
birth certificate
valid passport
Baptismal certificate
state or other government issued ID
3. Proof of Immunization (Vaccination Requirements)
4. School Records
Most Current Report Card (Required of all high school students, recommended for all other grade levels.)
Most current Individualized Education Program (IEP) if applicable (a records release may be sent to obtain this).
5. Special Circumstances
If you are not the natural parent but have legal guardianship of the student, please provide us with the appropriate documents.
If there are any other special circumstances such as name change, custody agreement, etc., please bring those documents with you also.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS
IF YOU ARE A HOMEOWNER: provide either a copy of your most recently paid tax bill or a copy of a recent mortgage statement. The name and address on these documents must match the name and address of the parent or legal guardian of the student being registered. If you have just recently closed on a new home, please provide the Settlement Statement from the closing or the Certificate of Occupancy along with a homeowner's insurance policy.
IF YOU ARE A RENTER: a copy of your lease agreement with the term listed.
IF YOU RENT WITHOUT A LEASE: (on a month-to-month basis)one of the following must be provided:
A notarized Landlord Statement
A Cable, Electric, or Fuel/Oil Bill, clearly stating the name and physical address of the registering family.
A rent receipt including the physical address
IF YOU LIVE WITH A DISTRICT RESIDENT: (ex: parent or grandparent) and do not pay rent, a set of signed and notarized Affidavits which will be provided, must be completed as described below:
The first is to be signed by the district resident, who must also provide proof of residency as stated above.
The second is to be signed by the parent or legal guardian of the registering student
